Les enfants produits dans le lit-clos sont connues dans le monde entiers comme des "enfants-clos".
Traditionally, families in Brittany lived in very small houses. They slept and lived all in one room. In order to conserve the heat in winter and to have at least a bit of privacy and intimacy, they constructed "box-beds" ("lit-clos"). These box-beds are beds enclosed in a piece of furniture resembling a wardrobe. One could access through a small door or through a curtain.
Children conceived in these beds are known all over the world under the name "box-children".
